It is part of the broader Bass Point Reserve, which is known for its vibrant biodiversity and magnificent underwater landscapes. It offers an experience to remember, especially for snorkelling enthusiasts.

Marine Life

One of the primary attractions for snorkelling in Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve is the breathtaking array of marine life. Here, you’ll encounter diverse species, from the playful Blue Groper and spiny sea urchins to the shy weedy seadragons and a myriad of colourful fish that adorn the bay.

During summer, it’s not uncommon to spot the elegant rays gliding gracefully over the seafloor. If you’re lucky, you may also spot the Common Sydney Octopus and cuttlefish. It’s truly an aquatic Eden that brings together marine species from different habitats and offers them a protected environment to flourish.

For thrill-seekers, there is a chance to spot Grey Nurse Sharks in their natural habitat, who have upped their presence in the area, with Bushrangers Bay even making it into the news. Seeing these creatures is a truly humbling experience that underscores the power and beauty of nature. Note that these will be swimming at about 8 meters deep, along the bottom of the deeper section.
